ITERATIVE REFINEMENT (ˈɪt(ə)rətɪv/ rɪˈfʌɪnm(ə)nt/): A process for rapidly and effectively modifying a model of an object or system until it accurately accounts for all neuroinformatics data related to that object or system. We use clustering (k-means, pair-correlation), steepest gradient, maximum entropy, Monte Carlo, Gaussian mixtures and other models from statistical physics to identify habits and create the appropriate "nudges." WHO WE ARE
Sunil and his colleagues extended a mathematical theory known as Iterative Refinement as part of his Ph.D. thesis to model the structure of disordered macromolecular assemblies from noisy x-ray diffraction and electron microscopy data. Iterative Refinement is the process of taking an initial model (or hypothesis), often little more than a guess, and successively refining it against the data. The successful application of this theory was published on the cover of the prestigious scientific journal Nature.
@SunilM1, we apply this same process to take initial models of innovative products or processes and rapidly refine them against market data and trends. In this way we apply the same rigorous mathematical methods to product or service innovation that ensures that initial ideas, concepts or prototypes are expanded to meet all the needs of a given market via an optimization process.
We use iterative refinement to take the process of ideation, co-creation and design thinking one step further – to refine innovative solutions so that they most accurately meet market needs. This requires careful collection and understanding of market data – a scientific process. We bring the rigor of experimental physics to the collection of market data, and to the fitting of prototypes (models) against this data.
